Terms of Service
Version 2026-10-20 · Last updated: October 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Helpman, operated by Mendoza Capital LLC platform ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, submitting a service request, or using any part of the platform, you agree to these Terms.
1. What we do
Helpman, operated by Mendoza Capital LLC is a managed home-services marketplace. We collect your project details, generate an instant planning estimate, issue fixed quotes, collect deposits, assign a vetted independent contractor, and track the job through milestones to completion. All communication between customers and contractors is mediated by our support team.
2. Estimates vs. quotes
- Planning estimates are planning ranges computed from your answers and photos. They are not final prices and no payment is due at this stage.
- Fixed quotes are firm offers. A deposit is only charged after you explicitly accept a quote.
3. Deposits, payments & financing
- Accepting a quote authorizes us to charge the stated deposit to your chosen payment method.
- Payments are processed securely by our payment provider (Stripe). We never store full card numbers on our servers.
- Financing options (e.g., Klarna, Affirm) may be offered at checkout where available; those are subject to the financing provider's own terms and approval.
- Milestone payments are released only after you approve each completed phase.
4. Cancellations & refunds
- You may cancel a request before work begins for a full refund of any deposit.
- Once work has started, refunds are prorated to the work completed and materials purchased. Completed milestones approved by you are non-refundable.
- To request a cancellation or refund, contact us at generalhandymans@gmail.com.
5. Contractors
- Contractors in our network are independent businesses, not our employees. We verify license, insurance, and background before activation and re-check periodically.
- Direct contact between customers and contractors outside the platform is not permitted; all coordination goes through our support team.
6. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate project details and safe, reasonable access to the work area.
- Review and approve (or reject) each milestone promptly so work can proceed.
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the platform or services is limited to the amounts you paid us for the job in question. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
8. Changes & contact
We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date. Questions: generalhandymans@gmail.com.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
