Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
Helpman, operated by Mendoza Capital LLC ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.
1. Information we collect
- Account data: name, email, phone, password (stored hashed), address, and — for contractors — business, license, and insurance details.
- Project data: service requests, answers to job questionnaires, photos you upload, quotes, milestones, messages with support, and reviews.
- Payment data: processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We receive transaction confirmations and never store full card numbers.
- Technical data: basic logs (pages visited, device type) to keep the service secure and reliable.
2. How we use it
- To operate the marketplace: estimates, quotes, scheduling, contractor assignment, milestone tracking, and support.
- To communicate with you about your jobs (status updates, approvals, receipts).
- To improve the service and prevent fraud or abuse.
- With your consent, to send occasional promotions — you can opt out anytime.
3. Sharing
- Assigned contractors receive the project details and contact information needed to perform your job — nothing more.
- Service providers that help us operate (payment processing, email delivery, hosting) receive only what they need and are bound by their own privacy obligations.
- We do not sell your personal information. We disclose it only when required by law.
4. Photos
Photos you upload are used to assess your project and may be analyzed by automated tools (including AI vision services) to improve estimate accuracy. They are visible to our team and the contractor assigned to your job.
5. Cookies & local storage
We use browser local storage to keep you signed in and to remember a guest request's tracking link on your device. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
6. Data retention & your rights
- We keep project records as long as needed for warranties, taxes, and legal obligations.
- You may request a copy, correction, or deletion of your personal data at generalhandymans@gmail.com. California residents have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of sale (we do not sell data).
7. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, rate limiting, and role-based access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. Changes & contact
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date. Questions: generalhandymans@gmail.com.
